The Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation withdrew their nationwide protest scheduled for Friday amid the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy鈥檚 decision to stop the Desh Natok production Nityapuran鈥檚 show for security concerns and attack on a protest rally. 聽
The BGTF secretary general Kamal Bayazid announced the withdrawal of the protest in a press release on Wednesday following the government鈥檚 assurance to investigate November 8 incident of attack on protesters.
鈥楢fter a meeting with the interim government鈥檚 cultural adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, we decided to withdraw the protest event scheduled for Friday,鈥� said Kamal Bayazid.
The cultural adviser promised to investigate the incident, take legal action against the miscreants who attacked the protest rally and should confirm security in cultural events, Kamal said in the release. 聽
Mostofa Sarwar Farooki also expressed gratitude to the theatre activists for participating in the student-led mass uprising, said Kamal.
