A street performance titled Laal Majlum will be held at the base of Anti-Terrorism Raju Memorial Sculpture of Dhaka University on Saturday afternoon.

A hybrid performance participated by theatre and cultural activists from different cultural troupes and educational institutions across the country.


The event is planned, designed and directed by playwright and cultural activist Shahman Moishan combining songs, processions, rallies, poem recitations, installations and performance art. 

Organisers of the Laal Majlum at a press conference on Thursday gave a brief detail about the event at Teacher-Student Centre.

Dhaka University theatre and performance studies associate professor Shahman Moishan, singer Bithi Ghosh, former president of Bangladesh Chhatra Union Baki Billah, and poet Rahman Mofiz, among others, spoke at the event.

‘The public performance has a focus on the coexistence of diverse communities and believers, questioning power and fascism from the point of view of the oppressed,’ said Moishan.

The event is scheduled to start at 4.00pm on Saturday and end with a public dialogue at Shahbagh.
