A fire broke out in the ‘foam type plastic floater’ of a dredger kept on the bank of the Jamuna River in front of the Dredger Beige office in the Aricha port area at ​​Shibalay upazila in Manikganj.
Two fire service units had worked for two hours to bring the fire under control.
The fire took place near the office in Aricha port area of ​​Shibalay on Thursday.
According to locals and fire service sources, at about 8:30am in the morning, the fire broke out in the ‘foam type plastic floater’ keeping the dredger’s pipe floating on the bank of the Jamuna River. The fire spread slowly and about 79 floaters kept there were burnt to ashes, they added.
Warehouse inspector of Shibalay Upazila Fire Service Nadir Hossain said that the plastic floater kept on the bank of the river near the Dredger Beige office in Aricha port area caught fire and spread quickly.
‘On information, we rushed to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control after two hours of efforts,’ Nadir said.
