A press release, issued by the BGB 55 battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Imdadul Bari, said that a team of the BGB conducted a drive on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Madhabpur in the district in the early hours of Saturday.
鈥楢 covered van loaded with India-made products was stopped during the drive, and seized 646 piece saris, 2,992 metre of velvet clothes and 32,000 piece of cosmetic products,鈥� he said.
Mentioning the market price of the seized smuggled goods would be about Tk 3 crore, the BGB officer said that the truck driver and his helper, however, could not be detained as they immediately fled the scene. 聽
The seized products were handed over to the district customs office, the press release added.
