Amite Hasan continued his rich vein of form as he scored yet another hundred to put Sylhet in the driving seat at the end of the second day of their National Cricket League fifth round match against Dhaka Metro at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Sunday.

Metro reached 49-4 at stumps still trailing by 197 runs to make Sylhet batting again.


Sylhet scored 376 in reply to Metro鈥檚 130 in the first innings, thanks to Amite鈥檚 101 off 204 with 13 fours, while Asadulla Al Galib made 56 and Tofael Ahmed scored 47 to take a massive 246-run lead. Left-arm spinner Arif Ahmed claimed 4-77.聽

Proceeding the second innings, Metro lost their first four batters for just 30 runs. At stumps, Aminul Islam Biplob (13) and Marshall Ayub (7) were unbeaten on the crease.

Sylhet pacers Khaled Ahmed and Rejaur Rahman grabbed two wickets apiece.

Dhaka were set a target of 104 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur after Khulna were bundled out for just 91 runs in the second innings.聽

However, Khulna had managed to secure a narrow lead of 12 runs after Dhaka were restricted to 160 runs in the first innings.聽

Al-Amin Hossain, Masum Khan, and Aridul Islam each claimed three wickets.

But Khulna collapsed dramatically in the second innings. Imrul Kayes in his last innings of his first-class career scored just one.聽

The right-arm pacer Anamul finished with 4-17, while Mahfuzur Rabby grabbed 3-9.聽

Chattogram remained favourites in their clash against Rajshahi at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Rajshahi reached 202-8, leading by 62 runs at the end of day鈥檚 play.

Shamim Hossain, who remained unbeaten on 84 runs, was instrumental in taking a 140-run lead in the first innings for Chattogram. He added 112 runs with the last three batters.聽

Rajshahi showed a better batting display in the second innings. But Tanzid Hasan (40) and Sabbir Hossain (54) couldn鈥檛 capitalise on the desired start as Rajshahi kept losing wickets in clusters.聽

Shakhir Hossain remained unbeaten on 42 runs, with Walid giving him company.

Right-arm pacer Ahmed Sharif (5-47) took his maiden fiver-for for Chattogram.

Rangpur gave a solid reply to Barishal鈥檚 first innings of 336, reaching 218-5, still trailing by 118 runs at stumps at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.

Rangpur lost their openers for 59 runs, but a third-wicket partnership of 90 runs between Abdullah Al Mamun (65) and Naeem Islam (40) got them to a comfortable position.聽

Tanbir Hayder (11) and Ariful Haque (28) were batting when play was called off due to bad light.聽

After resuming on 266-7, Barishal added another 70 runs with their last three wickets on the second day.聽

Skipper Tanvir Islam scored 52 off 57 with seven boundaries and two sixes.聽
