
Minhaz Mannan Emon, managing director of BLI Securities Limited, has been elected shareholding director of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, according to a DSE press release.
The release said that he was elected director unopposed, as no other candidate submitted nomination papers.
A DSE senior official said that Minhaz would replace Sharif Anwar Hossain on December 19 after an annual general meeting of the bourse.
Earlier on October 16, the bourse at a board meeting formed a three-member election commission headed by retired High Court judge Md Abdus Samad to conduct the election against the directorship post.
The other two members of the election commission were DSE shareholder representatives Md Rafiqul Islam and Dewan Azizur Rahman.
The election commission announced the election results on Tuesday, the press release said.
Minhaj is also sponsor director of Tomorrowland Limited and Greenwork Limited.
He is also the proprietor and managing director of Platinum Securities, a corporate member of the Chittagong Stock Exchange.
He was first elected as a shareholding director of the DSE in March 2012 and served until June 2014.
Later, he was re-elected as a shareholding director in March 2018 and served until September 2020.
