Editors of several newspapers recommended caretaker government, local government elections under the supervision of the existing interim government and critical evaluation of the previous Election Commissions.
They made the recommendations at an exchange of views meeting with the Electoral Reform Commission at the election commission headquarters Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon in the capital.
Commission chief Badiul Alam Majumder and other members were present at the meeting.
At the meeting some editors said that national elections under a caretaker government could facilitate state power transition through a comparatively smoother way. They said that the previous three Election Commissions must be brought to book for holding ‘controversial’ national elections,Â
They also requested the electoral reform commission to propose the interim government to consider local government elections under its capacity.
In response to the editors’ opinions, Badiul Alam Majumder said that the reform commission would consider sitting with the previous Election Commissions.
