
Russia has announced supplying 30,000 metric tonnes Muriate of Potash fertiliser to Bangladesh free of cost as part of friendship and deep sincerity between the two countries.
Russian second largest ammonia and nitrogen fertiliser manufacturing company Uralchem group鈥檚 chief executive officer Dmitry Konyaev, in a letter, informed the agriculture ministry, an official release said on Thursday.
Acting ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bangladesh Ekaterina Semenova formally handed over the letter to agriculture adviser lieutenant general (retired) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Wednesday.
The fertiliser would be supplied free of cost under the World Food Programme of the United Nations, the release added.
In 2013, Uralkali PJSC, a Russia-based one of the world鈥檚 leading producers and exporters of potash fertiliser, also supplied one million metric tonnes of MoP fertiliser under government to government contract to Bangladesh.
