
Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mahajote on Friday demanded reserved seats in all elections for religious minorities and separate electoral system for the religious minorities.
Secretary general of the organisation Gobinda Chandra Deb came up with the demands at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital.
He said that there should be reserve seats in all the elections for establishing rights of the religious minorities in the country and they should be elected in separate elections.
He demanded 42 reserved seats in the national elections for the minorities. Of them, 38 seats for Hindus, three seats for Buddhist and one for Christian.
Besides, four women from Hindu religion and two women candidates from Buddhist community would be elected for reserved seats in the parliament.
The executive president of the organisation Dinabondhu Roy, central leaders Pradip Kumar Roy, Tarun Kumar Ghosh, Hemanta Das and others spoke at the press conference.
