The fire that broke out at a building at Farmgate in the capital on Saturday morning was brought under control after seven hours of effort by the fire fighters.
Five firefighting units worked at the spot to douse the blaze that originated in the basement of the seven-storeyed Manosi Plaza at about 9:30am, said media cell of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The FSCD warehouse inspector Md Anwarul Islam said that the firefighters put out the blaze at about 6:30pm.
‘Different types of goods were stored in the basement of the building. There was too much of smoke as the goods were burnt in the fire, which was causing disruptions to the efforts to douse the blaze,’ he said.
No casualties were reported so far, he said, adding that the cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
