
Ten more deaths due to dengue were reported in the 24 hours leading up to Saturday morning, raising the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 448 this year.
In the recent fatalities, three occurred in the Dhaka South City Corporation, one in the Dhaka North City Corporation, four in the Dhaka division (outside the city corporations), and one each in Chattogram and Barishal divisions (outside the city corporations).
During the period, 886 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
Of them, 206 dengue patients were admitted in hospital under the DNCC while 167 were hospitalised in the DSCC.
Some 3, 808 patients are receiving treatment in different hospitals across the country.
This year, 85,712 dengue cases have been reported so far. Last year, 1,705 people lost their lives due to dengue, making it the deadliest year on record. The DGHS recorded 3,21,179 dengue cases and 3,18,749 recoveries in 2023.
