At least three armed separatist group Kuki-Chin National Front suspects were killed in a reported gunfight with the Bangladesh Army in the forest of Ruma upazila in Bandarban on Sunday.
On information, members of the Bangladesh Army initiated the operation against the KNF, said a press release of the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate issued on Sunday.
Sensing the presence of the army, KNF members started opening fire on the army, it said.
The statement also said that the army also recovered three guns, ammunition, uniforms, laptops and other things from the spot.
The ISPR also said that their drive was on.
Ruma police station officer-in-charge Md Suhrawardy said that the drive had been going on since Saturday night.
‘The army is yet to hand over bodies of KNF members. They have informed us that they will call us on tomorrow morning,’ the OC added.
He said that the army drive in several areas of Ruma had been under way for the past few days.
