Today is the fifth anniversary of death of poet and architect Rabiul Husain.
Born in Jhenaidah on January 31, 1943, Rabiul Husain made a significant contribution to Bangla literature writing over 25 books of poems, essays, novels and children鈥檚 books.
His literary works include 鈥楰i Achhe Ei Andhakarer Gabhire鈥�, 鈥楢ro Untrishti Chand鈥�, 鈥業sthirbindur Mohan Sangkat鈥�, 鈥楰arpurer Danaola Pakhi鈥�, 鈥楢magna Katakuti Khela鈥�, 鈥楤ishubrekha鈥�, 鈥楢mnibas鈥�, 鈥楰abitapunja鈥�, 鈥楽wapner Sahasi Manushera鈥�, 鈥楯e Nadi Ratrir鈥�, 鈥楨isab Nil Apaman鈥�, 鈥楢prayojaniya Prabandha鈥�, and 鈥楪alpagatha鈥�.
He served as president of The Institute of Architects, Bangladesh for four terms. He also served as vice-chairman of Architects Regional Council of Asia, vice-president of Commonwealth Association of Architects and president of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation of Architects.
He received Ekushey Padak in 2018. He was also awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award, National Poetry Council Award and the IAB Award.
The poet passed away in Dhaka on November 26, 2019.
