Rabiul Husain

Today is the fifth anniversary of death of poet and architect Rabiul Husain.

Born in Jhenaidah on January 31, 1943, Rabiul Husain made a significant contribution to Bangla literature writing over 25 books of poems, essays, novels and children’s books.


His literary works include ‘Ki Achhe Ei Andhakarer Gabhire’, ‘Aro Untrishti Chand’, ‘Isthirbindur Mohan Sangkat’, ‘Karpurer Danaola Pakhi’, ‘Amagna Katakuti Khela’, ‘Bishubrekha’, ‘Amnibas’, ‘Kabitapunja’, ‘Swapner Sahasi Manushera’, ‘Je Nadi Ratrir’, ‘Eisab Nil Apaman’, ‘Aprayojaniya Prabandha’, and ‘Galpagatha’.

He served as president of The Institute of Architects, Bangladesh for four terms. He also served as vice-chairman of Architects Regional Council of Asia, vice-president of Commonwealth Association of Architects and president of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation of Architects.

He received Ekushey Padak in 2018. He was also awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award, National Poetry Council Award and the IAB Award.

The poet passed away in Dhaka on November 26, 2019.
