Assistant public prosecutor Saiful Islam Alif, 35, was killed and 25 others injured during a clash between followers of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari and law enforcement agencies on the Chattogram court premises on Tuesday over sending Chinmoy to jail in a sedition case.

At around 9:00pm, the ‘Dhaka University Student Association of Lohagara-Satkania’ held a protest rally at TSC against the killing of Saiful Islam Alif.

During the protest, students chanted slogans such as, ‘There will be no place for extremism in this Bangladesh,’ ‘ISKCON and Sanatan are not the same,’ ‘Not Delhi, but Dhaka, Dhaka, Dhaka.’

During the event, Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, spokesperson for Inqilab Mancha, said, ‘We want to tell our Hindu brothers that we have no conflict with you. Hindus and Muslims are brothers. But the extremist organisation ISKCON has crossed its limits.’

He further demanded that those involved in the murder should be brought to the book as soon as possible.

Md Bin Yamin Mollah said ‘The Awami League is provoking ISKCON. They are devising ways to destroy the country. We demand justice for Alif.’
