Defending champions Bashundhara Kings managed a narrow 1-0 win over Brothers Union in one of the two matches on the opening day of the Federation Cup at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on Tuesday.
After a barren first half, defender Topu Barman scored the match-winning goal for the last season鈥檚 treble winners in the 69th minute. Later, he was adjudged player of the match.
The day鈥檚 other match between Bangladesh Police FC and Fortis FC ended in a goalless draw at the Rafiquddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.
