A mobile court fined two dealers at Paba upazila in Rajshahi for hoarding more fertilisers than the permitted level and manipulating vouchers.

The mobile court, led by Paba upazila nirbahi officer and executive magistrate Shohrub Hossain, fined Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation dealer M/S Zerman Ali Traders and Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation dealer M/S Nahar Enterprise at Baya Bazar under the upazila Tk 20,000 each on Tuesday evening.

Shohrub Hossain said that the dealers had been asked to write down the name and the phone number of the farmer who would buy fertilisers from them and information about how many sacks of fertilisers a farmer bought.

‘By checking a voucher from M/S Zerman Ali Traders, we found that Enamul Haque, a farmer of Baghdani village, bought 40 sacks of diammonium phosphate, generally known as DAP, from the dealer on December 05. When we contacted the farmer over the phone, the latter informed us that he bought only one sack of DAP,’ he added.

The UNO said that they also fined M/S Nahar Enterprise as the dealer was found with 50 more sacks of fertilisers than his stock mentioned in the register.

He said that they would continue their drive so that none could hoard fertilisers illegally and could sell it at a high price.
