A fire that broke out in the Korail Slum on Wednesday afternoon was extinguished after two hours of effort by the firefighters.
The Fire Service received report of the blaze at about 4:30pm which was doused at about 6:15pm, said Md Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters media cell.
Upon receiving the news, seven units of the fire service reached the scene, he said, adding that traffic congestion caused delay in their arrival.
Five units arrived at the scene and started firefighting operations at around 4:40pm while the remaining two units arrived at 5:09pm, Anwarul said.
The cause of the fire, however, could not be known and no casualties have been reported immediately, he added.
