Bangladesh will be looking to earn their first-ever clean sweep over the West Indies in the shortest format of the game when the two sides face off in the third and final T20I at the Arnos Vale Ground, St Vincent today.Â
The match will begin at 6:00am Bangladesh Standard Time, and T Sports and Nagorik TV will telecast the game live.
The Tigers staged a memorable turnaround in the T20I series after being clean swept in the preceding ODIs.
Bangladesh have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series after beating the hosts by seven runs in the first match before winning the second T20I by 27 runs while defending only 130.
‘Before every match, I believe we can win. Even after losing all the ODIs, we discussed strategies to succeed here. We did that before the first match, the second, and now we’ll do the same for the third. This team has the ability to win,’ Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons told the media ahead of the third T20I.
‘We›ve already won the series, which is the most important thing, but we want to finish with another victory. Heading home with a smile after winning the final match would be perfect.’
The former West Indies opener also hailed stand-in captain Liton Das for his leadership quality and backed him despite his poor form with the willow.Â
The wicket-keeper batter is yet to score a double-figure in the series, as he scored a duck and three runs in the first two T20Is. He managed to score only six runs in the three-match ODI series.
‘Liton has made some excellent decisions in the last two matches. He has embraced his role as a leader very well. It›s a concern that he hasn›t been scoring runs. I hope he can bounce back in the final match,’ said Simmons.
Simmons also praised batter Shamim Hossain, who marked his return to the T20I fold with two superb consecutive cameos of 27 and 35 runs.
‘Shamim›s performance has been outstanding. He has proven himself in both matches. It›s encouraging to see him understand his role and execute it so well,’ he added.
Bangladesh will miss the service of left-handed batter Soumya Sarkar, who suffered a finger injury during the second T20.
