
Education adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud said that ensuring the timely printing, binding, distribution, and supply of textbooks was one of the government鈥檚 top priorities.
He came up with the remark at a progress review meeting on textbook-related activities at the secondary and higher education division at secretariat on Thursday.
The adviser said that the printing of primary school textbooks was progressing well and would be distributed among students on time.
He, however, said that the printing of textbooks for higher secondary classes was slightly delayed, directing the authorities concerned to speed up the process to ensure these books are also distributed promptly.
During the meeting, press owners raised several issues they were facing. In response, the adviser assured them that their concerns would be addressed quickly and urged them to continue printing textbooks in the national interest.
Brigadier general (retired) M Sakhawat Hossain, adviser to the ministries of shipping and labour, professor M Aminul Islam, special assistant to the chief adviser, senior secretary Siddique Jobayer, secretary of the technical and madrassah education division KM Kabirul Islam, chairman of the national curriculum and textbook board professor AKM Riazul Hasan, along with representatives from various printing presses and other ministry officials were also present.
