The July Shaheed Smrity Foundation on Friday handed over cheques to the family members of 58 martyrs, who sacrificed their lives during the mass uprising.
At a programme at Khulna district Shilpakala Academy Auditorium, Tk 2.9 crore was distributed among the families across 10 districts of the Khulna division, with each family receiving Tk 5 lakh.
General secretary of the foundation Sarjish Alam and central coordinators Tariqul Islam, Ashrofa Khatun and Wahiduzzaman were present.
Chief executive officer of the foundation Meer Mahbubur Rahman welcomed the family members of the martyrs.
Commissioner of Khulna division Firoj Sarker, commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police Zulfiker Ali Haider, additional deputy inspector general of police of Khulna range Muhammad Hasanuzzaman, deputy commissioner of Khulna Muhammad Saiful Islam and superintendent of police Mosharraf Hossain were also present.
