
AF Hassan Ariff, the former adviser to the interim government’s land and civil aviation and tourism ministry, would be laid to rest at the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals’ Graveyard on Monday.
Supreme Court lawyer and a member of Hassan Ariff and Associates, Abdullah Al Noman, shared the update with ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on Saturday.
‘The burial will probably take place at 10:00am on Monday,’ Noman said.
The final decision would be taken after his daughter, who lives in Canada, arrives in Dhaka on Sunday night.
The former adviser’s assistant personal secretary Abid Chowdhury said, ‘Until then, his body will be kept at the Combined Military Hospital morgue.’
Abid added that Hassan Ariff’s second namaz-e-janaza was held on the High Court premises at 11:00am on Saturday.
Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, retired appellate judge Syed Ziaul Karim, Supreme Court Bar Association President AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, senior lawyer Zainul Abedin, and former Bar Secretary Ruhul Kuddus Kajol attended the funeral prayer, alongside many judges and lawyers.
A third namaz-e-janaza was held at the Secretariat, Abid said.
The first funeral prayer for the departed adviser was held on Friday night at Dhanmondi’s Baitul Aman Mosque.
Ariff, 83, passed away at 3:10pm on Friday at Dhaka’s Labaid Hospital.
On August 8, Hassan Ariff took oath as one of the advisers to the interim government.  Initially, he was given charge for the local government, rural development and cooperatives ministry.
As part of reshuffling of the advisory portfolios on November 10, Hassan took charge as the adviser to the land ministry and civil aviation and tourism ministry.
A senior lawyer at the Supreme Court, Hassan held the office of attorney general from October 2001 to April 2005. He was the law adviser to the caretaker government from January 2008 to January 2009.
