
The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Gazipur court on Sunday allowed the police to take Muaz Bin Noor, the spokesperson of Tabligh Jamaat鈥檚 Maulana Saad Kandhalvi faction, in custody for three days in a case of killing three people during a clash over control of the Ijtema ground in Tongi on December 18.聽
Gazipur additional chief metropolitan magistrate Alamgir Al Mamun passed the order after a hearing a police petition Sunday morning.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Muaz Bin Noor, 40, in a raid on Friday and produced him before the court on the same day. The court set Sunday for hearing on the police petition seeing remand for Muaz.
Loyal to Maulana Saad, Muaz is the fifth accused in a murder case filed by the Zubair faction following a clash between the two factions over the control of the Ijtema ground at Tongi in Gazipur. Four people were killed and scores of people were injured in the clash.
Zubair faction claimed that three of their fellows were killed in the clash.
Police and witnesses said that the clash between the two factions erupted at about 3:30am on December 18, when supporters of Maulana Saad went to take control of the Ijtema ground where supporters of Maulana Zubair had already gathered.
