Nigar Sultana Joty became the country鈥檚 first woman to score a first-class century when she reached the three-figure mark for Central Zone on the final day of their three-day match against North Zone in the first round of the maiden Women's National Cricket League at the Shaheed Kamaruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Monday.

In the same match, Farzana Haque Pinky, who made 86 in the first innings, struck 102 off 226 in the second against Central, only to become the second batter in women鈥檚 cricket to score a hundred.


However, another North Zone player Ishma Tanjim missed the landmark, departing for 90 runs after facing 171 deliveries.

The record-filled match concluded in a draw, with North Zone finishing at 204-1 at stumps.

Earlier, Joty struck an unbeaten 153 off 253 deliveries to help Central post 387-8 declared in reply to North's first-innings total of 240-9 declared, securing her side a 147-run first-innings lead.

Joty, unbeaten on 85 at stumps on Day 2, needed just 15 runs to reach the milestone on the final morning.

Jannatul Ferdus Sumona was the pick of the bowlers for North, taking six for 113 runs.听听

In another match at Bangla Trac Cricket Academy Ground in Rajshahi, South Zone cruised to a 10-wicket win over East Zone.

South Zone amassed a total of 347, led by opener Ayesha Rahman (94), Rubya Haider (82), and Rabeya Khan鈥檚 70, in response to East Zone鈥檚 first innings total of 193.

Spinner Shorifa Khatun claimed 4- 67 for East Zone.

With a deficit of 154 runs, East Zone could muster 162, leaving them with a target of just nine runs as听Skipper Rabeya Khan took five for 18 runs.
