Ex-principal secretary to the Prime Minister鈥檚 Office and former National Board of Revenue chairman Nazibur Rahman was sent to jail after end of his three-day remand in connection with killing of Bangladesh Nationalist Party activist Makbul in 2022.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saifuzzaman passed the order on Wednesday after the police, following the remand, produced Nazibur before the court appealing to keep him in jail until the investigation was over.


A Dhaka court on December 18, granted him a three-day remand in the case after the hearing.

The police arrested Nazibur Rahman from the capital鈥檚 Ramna area on October 6.

According to the case documents, the BNP leaders and activists

as part of their party programme on December 10, 2022, began to gather in the capital.

The police and AL men later created ruckus in front of the BNP headquarters in Naya Paltan on December 7. They entered the BNP office and charged batons and opened fire at the BNP men, injuring Mokbul critically.

In this incident, an individual named Mahfuzur Rahman filed a case against 256 people, including Sheikh Hasina with Paltan police station on September 30.
