
Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, faction at Dhaka College who failed to secure their names on the newly announced committee demanded BNP acting chairperson Tarique Rahman’s intervention in reorganisation of the committee.
They termed the newly formed Dhaka College unit 36-member convening committee as a   ‘pocket committee’ and demanded immediate cancellation of the committee at a press conference at the Dhaka College auditorium on Thursday morning.
Former vice-presidents of Dhaka College JCD unit Tazbiul Hasan and Abir Rayhan read a written statement saying that the announcement of convening committees of 11 units led to an unstable situation on the campuses, including Dhaka College.
Tazbiul claimed that honours 10-11 session and 11-12 session students of the college who had faced attacks, lawsuits, remand and oppression for a long time during the ousted Awami League regime were excluded from the Dhaka College JCD unit committee.
Abir demanded BNP acting chair Tarique Rahman’s intervention in reorganisation of the committee.
Approved by president Rakibul Islam Rakib and general secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir on December 23, the JCD announced convening committees of 11 units, including Dhaka College.
