
Standard Chartered Bangladesh and Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital have partnered to set up 71 comprehensive eye health camps for adult beneficiaries and 1,667 student sight testing programmes for school-going children, said a press release.
The initiative will reach 10,000 adults across Dhaka city and 2,50,000 students across Naogaon, Jamalpur, Barishal, Borguna and Moulvibazar. The initiative will also support the transportation of surgery patients and provide beneficiaries with eyewear, optics and essential medicine, it said.
Naser Ezaz Bijoy, chief executive officer of Standard Chartered Bangladesh, said, ‘The social impacts of preventing avoidable vision impairment are vast, ranging from educational attainment, livelihood generation, to poverty eradication.’
