
Unidentified miscreants attacked the Madhabdi police station in Narsingdi allegedly in an attempt to snatch the accused on Monday.
Police and witnesses said that an oil-laden truck was going to Mymensingh from Chittagong on December 18 when the truck was hijacked in Abdullah Bazar area of ​​Madhabdi on the Narsingdi-Madanganj road.
Siddiqur Rahman, the owner of the oil and the truck, filed a complaint with the Madhabdi police station in this regard.
Following the complaint, Tanvir Hossain, son of Delwar Hossain, son of Madhabadi municipality’s Ward 6, his partner Apu, Himel and Imran were arrested by the police.
Later, supporters of Delwar Hossain and his son Tanveer Hossain attacked the Madhabdi police station.
Officer-in-charge of Madhabdi police station Nazrul Islam said, ‘Some miscreants attacked the police station to snatch the accused but they could not enter inside the police station.’
The four arrested persons are currently in the custody of the district police, he said.
Additional superintendent of police Kalimullah said that the attack might be carried out to snatch the four arrested accused or take away the unregistered motorcycle that was seized by the police.
Noting that those who attacked the police station are local people, he said that the police were conducting drives to arrest them.
