Bangladesh Cricket Board president Faruque Ahmed assured the players of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League would receive their money from the franchises.Â
According to the rules, the franchises are supposed to pay 50 per cent of the players’ money before the tournament starts, 25 per cent during the tournament, and the remaining 25 per cent at the end of the tournament.
But that has not been met so far. The players have already spoken publicly about it.Â
Three of the seven franchises, along with Rajshahi, are new this season. According to the rules, the franchises have to provide a bank guarantee in case some anomaly happens. But it was reported that only Fortune Barishal so far has done so.Â
However, Faruque, while talking to the reporters during the photo session of the Women’s Under-19 World Cup team at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday, hoped that it would be sorted out.Â
‘Every day, since day one, we’ve been saying that they have to give the money. [But] if you ask me to answer in black and white why this didn’t happen, I won’t be able to provide a clear answer,’ said Faruque.
‘You’ve to observe the situation in the last four months,’ added Faruque.Â
‘That doesn’t mean that the players won’t get the money. We have taken different steps for the franchises. I have spoken directly with the franchise as board president so that they feel that we are partners. They are also spending money on Bangladesh cricket.’
