Former Bangladesh national women’s football team coach Golam Rabbani Choton has been appointed as the Youth Development and BFF Elite Football Academy coach for a year, Bangladesh Football Federation confirmed the news on Thursday.
The 56-year-old Choton last served for the Bangladesh Army women’s football team as coach following his resignation of BFF’s job on May 2023, citing family reason.Â
Choton guided Bangladesh women’s team to taste their maiden title victory of the SAFF Women’s Championship by beating hosts Nepal 3-1 in the sixth edition final of this tournament on September 19, 2022.
‘Returned to the BFF with new assignment; Hope, I will be able to work from now on as I did earlier,’ said the AFC pro-license holder coach Choton on his first appearance before media at the BFF premises after taking the charge on Thursday. Â
‘I will focus on to groom the youth footballers up for Bangladesh national football team…The BFF president (Tabith Awal) assured me to provide all out support for football development,’ said Choton, who earlier served the BFF from 2008 to 2023.
