
A moderate category earthquake jolted different parts of the country, including Dhaka and north-east part of Sylhet Friday morning.
The epicentre of the earthquake was neighbouring Myanmar, said the meteorological department.
The earthquake, measuring 5.0 magnitude on the Richter scale, occurred at 10.32am and the distance of the epicentre was around 482 kilometres north-east from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department鈥檚 seismic centre in the capital, a BMD press release showed.
However, no damages or casualties were reported.
The tremor lasted a few seconds, prompting many people to leave their homes and business establishments and rush to the streets.
On December 2, Dhaka and other parts of the country had experienced a magnitude 5.6 quake. It also recorded a magnitude 5.4 quake in October.
