Mohammad Ibrahim scored the lone goal of the match as Abahani Limited managed a solitary goal win over arch-rivals Mohammedan Sporting Club in their Group B match of the Federation Cup at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla on Tuesday.聽

Forward Shahriar Emon provided a square pass from the right flank before forward Ibrahim tapped the ball into the net in the 74th minute to help his side earn full six points from two matches.


With the win, Abahani were level on points with five-team group leaders Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society.

Both Abahani and Rahmatganj now need just a point from their remaining two games to advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament from Group B.聽

The 2023 champions and last season鈥檚 runners-up, Mohammedan, on the other hand, are on the brink of exit from the group stage of the 10-team tournament as they could manage only three points from three games.

Earlier, 12-time champions Abahani defeated Chittagong Abahani 3-0, while 11-time champions Mohammedan thrashed the same team 6-0 after conceding a lone goal loss to Rahmatganj in their other game.聽

Meanwhile, in the day鈥檚 other match from the same group, newcomers Fakirerpool Young Men鈥檚 Club came from one goal down to draw 2-2 against Ctg Abahani at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.

Midfielder Sahriful Islam (13th) and forward Towhidul Alam Sabuz (80th) scored once each for Ctg Abahani, while Uzbekistani forward Akobir Toraev (21st) and midfielder Shanto Tudu (73rd) scored the equalisers for Fakirerpool YMC.聽

With the stalemate, Ctg Abahani made their exit from the competition with one point from three games, while Fakirerpool still had their chances on paper to advance to the last eight with one point from two games.聽
