
The economics department of Southeast University has recently hosted the Eco-Fest 2024-25 with the theme ‘Journey Together, Thrive Forever’ on its campus in Dhaka.
The SEU vice-chancellor Professor Yusuf Mahbubul Islam inaugurated the festival as chief guest on January 2, said a press release on Tuesday.
The opening segment included a visit to vibrant stalls, showcasing student initiatives and projects, followed by a tree plantation drive symbolising the department’s commitment to sustainability
The academic session was formally initiated with a welcome speech by Kazi Tanvir Mahmud, chairman of the economics department.
Special guest Professor Mohammed Helal Uddin from the University of Dhaka presented an analysis on ‘The Impact of the July Revolution on the Economy of Bangladesh.’
SEU pro-VC Professor Md Mofazzal Hossain emphasised the importance of collective effort and resilience in achieving progress and prosperity.
Professor Md Abdul Hakim, director of IQAC at the SEU offered insights into the nuanced concept of the ‘Meaning of Development’.
The event concluded with a cultural programme performed by the students of the department.
