
Leaders of the 12-Party Alliance, a combine of twelve political parties, on Thursday at a protest rally in Dhaka called on the interim government headed by Professor Muhammad Yunus to announce the specific date for holding the next general election.
The alliance organised the rally in front of the National Press Club, demanding the announcement of a roadmap for holding the next general election, arrest of associates of the fascist Sheikh Hasina government and putting them on trial.
Secretary general of Liberal Democratic Party Shahadat Hossain Selim chaired the rally.
Jatiya Party faction chairman Mostafa Jamal Haider called on the interim government to announce a specific date for holding the next general election and hand over the power to the elected government.
Mostafa Jamal also said that the interim government had failed to control law and order and they had no capability to implement reforms.
He called on the interim government to refrain from increasing gas prices further.
Shahadat Hossain Selim called on the Interim government to hold the next general elections by 2025 and people were expecting an early election.
Jatiya Dal chairman Syed Ehsanul Huda said that in the past five months the interim government had failed to resolve crisis of the country.
Bikalpadhara Bangladesh chairman Nurul Amin Bepari, Jatiya Ganatantrik Party vice-president Rashed Prodhan and others spoke at the rally.
