Mohammedan Sporting Club continued their winning streak in the 10-team Bangladesh Premier League after a 3-1 win over Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society in their first leg tie at the Birshreshtha Flight Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Friday.

In the other day’s match, holders and treble winners Bashundhara Kings earned a 4-1 win against newcomers Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club at the Kings Arena in the city.


Brothers Union defeated another newcomer Dhaka Wanderers Club 4-1 at the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur while Police Football Club and Fortis Football Club played a 1-1 draw at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.

In Munshiganj, Mohammadan went on to break 1-0 as their midfielder Razu Ahmed Zisan scored in the stoppage time of the first half.

Malian forward Souleymane Diabate and Nigerian forward Emmanuel Sunday made it 3-0 by scoring in the 64th and 69th minutes respectively before Rahmatganj MFS Ghanaian forward Samuel Boateng (86th) pulled one goal back.

In Dhaka, Kings conceded an own goal in the second minute as their midfielder Tutul Hosaain Badsha put his own net. 

Kings returned to the game in the 69th minute with their Brazilian midfielder Jonathan Fernandes scoring the equaliser before three local forwards Foysal Ahmed Fahim(72nd), Rafiqul Islam (75th) and Rakib Hossain (83rd) scored once each.

In Gazipur, Brothers went 1-0 up in the 17th minute courtesy of Wanderers conceding an own goal before forward Mahbubur Rahman (25th) extended the lead. 

Wanderers midfielder Abu Sufian Yousuf Sifat  (44th) reduced the gap 2-1 in the first half before Brothers forward Eleta Kingsley (88th)and Senegalese midfielder Cheikh Sene (stoppage time) scored once each.

In Mymensingh, it was goalless tie in the stipulated time before Police FC forward Morshedul Islam scored in the second minute of the stoppage time just to see an equaliser in the next minute by Fortis FC forward Piash Ahmed Nova.

After playing out seven games each, Mohammedan earned 21 points to top the table followed by Rahmatganj with 15 points. Brothers (14 points) and Kings (13 points) are placing the third and fourth places respectively.

Fortis FC (seven points), Police FC (seven points), Wanderers (four points) and Fakirerpool (three points) are placing from the sixth to nine places respectively.
