Retail chain shop Shwapno purchased cauliflower directly at a fair price from farmers to reduce their hardships in Rajbari area on Thursday.
The chain shop bought several thousand cauliflowers from Mizan Mandal and Tuku Sheikh in Baliakandi area of the district, said a press release on Friday.
Earlier, a team of Shwapno bought cauliflowers directly from farmers in Meherpur.
Despite a bumper crop of cauliflower, farmers in various areas are not getting the expected price. The matter came to the attention of the authorities of Shwapno, added the press release.聽
Mentioning the decision to buy cauliflower from the frustrated farmers, Sabbir Hasan Nasir, managing director of Shwapno, said, 鈥榃e came to know about the frustration of farmers in Meherpur and Rajbari areas over the sale of cauliflower, and decided to buy directly from them.鈥�
