
Mohammad Ibrahim scored a brace as Abahani Limited jumped to second place in the Bangladesh Premier League table with a crushing 4-0 win over bottom-placed Chittagong Abahani at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Saturday.
Ibrahim, who scored the match-winning goal against table toppers and arch-rivals Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Federation Cup on Tuesday, opened the account from the spot kick in the 42nd minute.
The midfielder was brought down by Ctg Abahani鈥檚 Fazlay Rabby inside the box, and referee Sabuj Das awarded the penalty to the six-time champions.
Forward Enamul Islam Gazi doubled the margin in the 51st minute by poking the ball into the net following a low cross from the right flank by forward Shahriar Emon.
Ibrahim scored his second in the 66th minute before super-sub midfielder Asadul Molla scored the final one in the 71st minute.
With the day鈥檚 win, Abahani moved to second place from fifth with 16 points from seven games, five points behind Mohammedan, who have 21 points from the same number of outings.
