Leaders of Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad on Saturday said at a commemoration meeting that Shahidullah Chowdhury was a true labour leader who worked all his life for establishing rights of the workers.
The urged labour leaders to follow the ideals of Shahidullah for establishing rights of the workers.
The SKOP, a combine of labour rights bodies, organised the meeting at the National Press Club auditorium in Dhaka where Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal president and joint convener of SKOP Anwar Hossain chaired.
President of Bangladesh Trade Union Centre Shahidullah Chowdhury died on January 3, at his Demra residence after suffering from old age complications at the age of 86.
Bangladesh Labour Federation president Shah Mohammad Abu Zafar said that the role of Shahidullah in establishing rights of the workers would be remembered for a long time.
Bangladesh Trade Union Sangha president Chowdhury Ashikul Alam said that Shahidullah was an uncompromising labour leader who never betrayed rights of the workers.聽聽聽
Adviser to the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, chief of labour reform commission Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, labour leaders Kader Hawlader, Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Razequzzaman Ratan, Saifuzzaman Badsha, Abul Kalam Azad, Abul Hossain and others spoke at the commemoration meeting.
