At least six people were killed and seven others injured in road accidents in Faridpur, Dinajpur, Sylhet, Jhenaidah and Magura districts between Saturday night and Sunday.听听
Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that two motorcyclists were killed as a bus hit their bike in the Chakrikandi area under Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur district on Sunday.
The deceased are Badhon Das, 22, and his brother-in-law Pranto Biswas, 21, residents of Shovarampur area in the district town.
Karimpur highway police officer-in-charge M Salauddin Chowdhury said that the police sent the bodies to Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue.听
In another incident, the BSS reported that a man was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in the Velaine Bhandaribazar area under Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur district on Sunday.
The deceased was Mijanur Rahman, 40, son of Abu Bakar Siddique, a resident of Kulanandapur village of the upazila.
The accident took place when a truck hit a van from behind, said, Ghoraghat police OC M Nazmul Haque.听听
A case was filed with Ghoraghat police in this regard.听
The BSS reported that a woman was killed and four others were injured in a road accident at Karicherpur under Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet on Sunday.听
The deceased was Mayarunnesa, 40, wife of Haji Shahid Ahmed of Lamakutapara village in Gowainghat upazila of the district.
The accident occurred on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway when a truck collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, said Jaintapur model police station OC Abul Bashar Mohammad Badruzzaman.听
The BSS, meanwhile, reported that two motorcyclists were killed in separate road accidents in Jhenaidah and Magura districts on Saturday night.听 听
Santoo Mia, 30, hailed from Baribathan village of the upazila, lost control of his bike and fell on the road in the Nagarbathan Bazar area under the sadar upazila at around 9.30pm.听听
Jenaidah Sadar police station OC Abdullah Al Mamun said that Santoo died on the way to hospital.
Another motorcyclist named Ratan Halder, 40, hailed from Shialjore village of the Sadar upazila, was killed and his co-rider injured in a road accident at the intersection of Joka Madrassah under the sadar upazila here past night.
Magura Sadar police OC Aiyub Ali said that a sand-laden truck rammed the motorbike carrying Ratan and his pillion from behind at around 9:00pm, leaving Ratan dead on the spot.
Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee.
