A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court on Monday placed Asifur Rahman Jhantu, 32, and Md Kausar Mridha, 24, on two-day remand in police custody in connection with hacking a trader on Elephant Road on Friday night.

Confirming the matter, Dhaka Metropolitan Police New Market Zone assistant commissioner Tarique Latif said that they were interrogating the two accused in police custody.


‘We are investigating the matter. The

DMP Ramna Division and different teams of the detective branch are working to arrest the attackers,’ Tarique told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·.

According to police, at about 11:00pm on Friday 8 to 10 miscreants indiscriminately hacked Multiplan Centre Dokan Malik Samity joint general secretary Ehteshamul Haque in front of the centre on Elephant Road.

A video of the incident went viral on social media that drew attention of people from all walks of life.

ECS Computer City, Multiplan Centre senior joint general secretary Md Wahidul Islam Dipu filed a case with the New Market police station on Saturday in this regard naming listed criminal Sanjidul Islam Emon and his associates.
