The police arrested seven suspected robbers for raping a housewife after committing a robbery at her house in a village under Mohadevpur upazila in Naogaon.
The arrested suspects are Shariful Islam Pocha, 29, Tarek Hossain, 26, Solaiman Ali, 38, Sagor Hossain, 19, Rubel Sardar, 28, Ripon Ali, 30, and Sagor Hossain, 19, residents of different villages of Mohadevpur, Manda, and Niamatpur upazilas.
Muhammad Shafiul Sarwar, superintendent of Naogaon district police, at a press conference at his office on Tuesday, said that a group of masked robbers, equipped with locally-made weapons, robbed the woman鈥檚 house in a village under Mohadevpur Upazila at the night following January 9.
The robbers, while leaving the house, abducted the housewife, took her to a nearby field, where they raped her one after another, he said.
On information, a team of Mohadevpur police, with the help of locals, rescued the victim, he said. The police official said that the victim鈥檚 family later lodged a case against unnamed accused with Mohadevpur police station, and the police, using information technology, arrested the accused at different places in the district.
He said that they, based on information extracted from the arrested ones, seized two sharp weapons used during the robbery.
