
National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s grandson Babul Kazi was admitted to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute with severe burn injuries on Saturday.
Babul Kazi, 59, sustained burn injuries from a gas-lighter explosion when he tried to light a cigarette in a washroom in his home in the capital’s Banani area at about 5:00am on the day, according to physicians. Â
The institute’s resident surgeon Shawon Bin Rahman said that Babul Kazi was taken to the hospital at about 7:00am with severe burn injuries.
‘He was admitted to the intensive care unit as 74 per cent of his body was burnt. He is now in critical condition,’ Shawon added.
