The Natore district police withdrew a sub-inspector after a video clip of him taking bribe from a service receiver went viral on social media.
Marufat Hussain, superintendent of the Natore district police, withdrew sub-inspector Aminul Islam from the Natore Sadar police station and attached him to the police lines on Saturday night after the matter came to his notice, said Shariful Islam, additional superintendent of the district police.
He said that a three-member probe committee was formed to investigate the incident.
‘Necessary legal and departmental actions will be taken following the recommendations of the probe committee,’ he added.
Earlier, a video clip went viral on social media on Saturday afternoon where Aminul was seen taking bribes from a service receiver who went to the police official for a police clearance certificate.
In the video, the service receiver was also heard saying that he had given a Tk 1,000 bribe to another police officer who went to his house for verification.
The accused SI, Aminul Islam, could not be reached for his comment despite repeated attempts over the phone.
