Border Guard Bangladesh provided financial assistance to 18 students and people injured in the July-August uprising at an event at the Border Conference Centre of the BGB Headquarters in Dhaka on Sunday.

Brigadier General Khondaker Shafiquzzaman, BGB additional director general for administration, was present as chief guest at the event and provided financial assistance to the injured, said a press release.


Remembering the martyred in the July-August uprising, Khondaker Shafiquzzaman said that since the beginning of the uprising, the BGB had provided treatment to about 50 students and people injured in the movement at the Border Guard Hospital.

Promising to stand by the injured students, BGB director general Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui took the initiative to provide necessary assistance to rehabilitate 100 students injured in the anti-discrimination movement across the country.

On December 8, home affairs adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury was present as chief guest and started the rehabilitation programme by providing financial and other assistance to seven injured students.

The rehabilitation programme of 100 injured students promised by BGB has been completed on Sunday, added the press release.
