The Dhaka Metropolitan Police detective branch arrested Awami League presidium member Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin in the capital’s Mohammadpur area early Monday.

 Later in the day, a Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court placed Mostofa, also a former AL lawmaker for Dhaka 7 constituency, on five-day remand in a murder case filed with the New Market police station, said DMP DB joint commissioner for South Nasirul Islam.


‘DB will interrogate Mohiuddin in the case. He is now in our custody and accused in five cases, including murder,’ he said.

DMP DB joint commissioner for North Rabiul Islam said that a DB team arrested Mohiuddin in the Mohammadpur area.

‘He is accused in five cases, including murder in different police stations of the DMP,’ Rabiul told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·.

Mostofa was elected as a lawmaker for the Dhaka 7 constituency on the AL ticket in the general election held in 2008.
