The authorities of Jahangirnagar University formed an environment council to oversee the electoral processes of the upcoming Jahangirnagar University Central Students Union election.
This initiative aims to ensure a fair and efficient election process, the university administration said.
According to an official order signed by ABM Azizur Rahman, acting registrar of the university, the council titled Environment Council: JUCSU Election 2025 has been formed under the leadership of the JU vice-chancellor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, who will serve as chairperson of the council.
Proctor AKM Rashidul Alam has been appointed as member secretary of the council.
The order also stated that an election commission was working to manage the election process.
The newly formed council will further work in organising and conducting the elections effectively, the notice said.
Pro-VC for academic affairs, Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, pro-VC for administrative affairs, Sohel Ahmed, treasurer Md Abdur Rob, dean of faculty of social sciences Md Shamsul Alam, director of the Student Welfare and Counselling Centre Md Jamal Uddin, Professor Mohammad Sajjadul Islam and provosts of all residential halls have been made members in the council.
