The department of economics of American International University-Bangladesh has recently organised the ECO Fest 2025.

Students from 20 schools and colleges along with the AIUB participated in a series of competitions, including poster presentations, quiz contests and debates on the AIUB campus in Dhaka on January 16, said a press release.


The theme of the event titled Bridging Socio-economic Inequality for Sustainable Development sparked lively discussions and thoughtful deliberations from participants, faculty members, and guests alike.

The event commenced with a grand opening ceremony graced by Abdur Rahman, pro-vice-chancellor of AIUB, andTazul Islam, dean of the faculty of arts and social sciences.

Both of them emphasised the importance of addressing socio-economic inequality and the vital role education plays in achieving sustainable development.

The closing ceremony followed the successful completion of the final rounds.

Fahmida Khatun, executive director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue, was present as special guest.

She highlighted the importance of youth engagement and active participation in building a just and sustainable society.

The closing ceremony also featured a prize-giving session, where the winners of the competitions were awarded for their outstanding performances.

The event ended with a vote of thanks given by Faria Sultana, head of department of economics at AIUB.

ECO Fest 2025 provided a platform for young individuals to exchange ideas, display their talents, and participate in meaningful discussions on the pressing socio-economic challenges of our era.
