The annual general meeting-2024 and reunion of the Jahangirnagar University Statistics Department Alumni Association has recently held at Sripur in Gazipur, said a press release on Tuesday.

The event was chaired by the association鈥檚 president and Bangladesh Bank鈥檚 statistics director Md Anis Ur Rahman, while it was moderated by general secretary of the association and senior assistant secretary at the home affairs ministry Kazi Arifur Rahman Roman.


Md Anis Ur Rahman outlined the association鈥檚 future plans and key initiatives undertaken during the current committee鈥檚 tenure.

Kazi Arifur Rahman presented an overview of the initiatives taken during the committee鈥檚 tenure, including in 2024, supported by a documentary showcasing the activities.

Treasurer of the association and senior assistant vice-president of Shahjalal Islami Bank, Safiqul Islam, presented the financial report for 2024.

The association鈥檚 annual publication, Swapnajatra, was unveiled at the event.

Speakers at the event included the association鈥檚 founding president and former deputy general manager of Sonali Bank, Md Nuruzzaman; former executive director of Bangladesh Bank, AKM Fazlul Haque Mia; former joint general secretary of the association, Taslim Chowdhury; Professor Mohd Muzibur Rahman, department of statistics and data science, JU; Professor Rumana Rois, chairman, department of statistics and data science, JU; executive member of the association and chairman of the executive committee of Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC, Md Abdul Wadud Auntu; vice-president of the association and director of Amazing Fashions, Mominul Hoque Jewel; vice-president of the association and senior vice-president of Bank Asia, Md Mazibur Rahman; organising secretary of the association and head of international division at Shahjalal Islami Bank, Mohammad Abdul Majid; and joint general secretary of the association and country director of Apasen International, UK, Shah Al Masud Rana.

Chief election commissioner and managing director of Contessa Solutions and Consultants Limited, Md Lutfur Rahman, announced the newly formed executive committee for the next tenure, assisted by election commissioner and former chair of the statistics department at Dhaka College, Professor Riazul Hakim Babul.

Md Anis Ur Rahman and Kazi Arifur Rahaman re-elected as president and general secretary of the association respectively for the tenure of 2025-2027.

Following the meeting, the event turned into a day-long celebration involving alumni members and their families.

The festivities included games for children and adults and concluded with an entertaining cultural program.
