Robbers shot a gold trader and robbed him in Beribadh, Dhaka on Thursday night, said the police.

The victim’s family alleged that around 70 bhari of gold jewelleries were taken from him.


With injuries in the left leg, Sajal Rajbangshi was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Md Amirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kamrangirchar police station.

‘The victim was later admitted at a private hospital. Victim’s brother filed a case on Friday morning regarding the incident,’ he said.

Quotting the victim, the OC said that the incident occurred at about 11:00pm when victim Sajal was returning home from his Hazaribagh shop.

Just before reaching his home near the Kamrangirchar police station, there were around five motorcycles parked on the side of the road, he said.

‘At that time, three of the motorcycles blocked him and tried to snatch his bag. He was shot in the leg as he was resisting,’ OC Amirul added.

The robbers also fired three rounds of blank shots, he said, adding that efforts were under way to arrest the culprits.
