Metro rail services on Uttara-Pallabi section closed for the second time on Saturday due to a technical fault in the signalling system.
Till 5:15pm the service on the section remained suspended while trains were running on the Motijheel-Pallabi section.
Earlier on the day, the service closed for 15 minutes at 9:15am as a door did not close due to pressure of the passengers, said Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited managing director Abdur Rouf.
The company is the implementing agency of the metro rail.
Rouf also said that at about 1:36pm the service was halted due to a technical problem in the signalling system.
The service resumed after 40 minutes on the Motijheel-Pallabi section and later it was resumed on the Pallabi-Uttara section.
Soon after resuming the service on Pallabi-Uttara section, it was shut again due to the same problem.
‘We are trying to resume the service on the Uttara-Pallabi section,’ the managing director said at about 5:15pm.
