
The Hepatology Society, Dhaka, Bangladesh held its annual general meeting at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in Dhaka on Sunday.
BSMMU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam has been elected as president while Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders’ associate professor Dr Md Golam Azam has been elected as secretary general of the newly formed committee of the society, said a press release.  Â
Professor Dr Md Golam Mostafa has been elected as vice-president and Dr Md Mahbubul Alam has been elected as treasurer of the committee, said a press release.
The others elected members of the committee are science affairs secretary Dr Md Saiful Islam Elin, international affairs secretary Dr Md Kamrul Anam, organising secretary SKM Nazmul Hasan, media and publication secretary Dr Tanvir Ahmed, and members Professor Dr Md Akhmad Ali, Dr Md Motahar Hossain, Dr Md Rafiqul Islam, Dr Nurul Islam and Dr Md Harun Or Rashid.
Shahinul Alam, in his speech, emphasised on the society’s efforts to increase public awareness about liver diseases, strengthen disease prevention activities, launch telemedicine services to ensure grassroots medical services, provide free medical services to poor patients and increase its own funds to complete the activities of the society smoothly, added the press release.
